Pig Race report...
Many thanks to everyone who supported the Grand Pig Race in September. Over 80 people attended, many of them from within the Parish. There were also many people who couldn’t attend, but sent donations anyway. It was a hilarious evening – it’s amazing how much people will bet, and how loud they will cheer, for battery operated pigs!
The Blue Cross were delighted with the £1,850 we raised. Wendy Pinker, who also brought her beautiful hand made Nepali jewellery and bags in aid of her clinic in Nepal was equally pleased with her sales level.
Many local businesses supported us. The Lamb got us off to a very good start by persuading Butcombe Brewery to donate a barrel of their ‘Traditional’ beer. Cherry Lodge Free Range Gloucester Old Spot Pork, Elm Farm Boarding Kennels and Cattery, Frome Valley Farm Shop, Let’s Walk Outdoor & Travel Wear of Thornbury, Parkers Garden Centre, Pinkers Saddlery and the Rowe Veterinary Group all donated £25 to sponsor a race. We received raffle prizes from Cotswold Vintners Chipping Sodbury, Organic Blooms, Parkers Garden Centre, Troupers Beauty Studio, Thornbury Garden Centre and the White Hart.
Jane Climpson still needs to raise more to meet her commitment to the Blue Cross before her Inca Trail trek next May. The next fundraising event is a Luxury Ladies Evening on November 18th in the Marshall Rooms.
